How to Ensure Our Kids Get Enough Physical Activity
Nowadays, children spend most of their time watching television or on their laptops and smartphones playing games and socializing. So they don’t get enough physical activity and as a result childhood obesity is increasing dramatically and it is now higher than it ever was.
Studies have shown that kids nowadays spend approximately six hours every day on their computers and watching television. During this time they are taking in more calories than they are burning. In fact, most children tend to eat a lot of junk food while watching television which can be very dangerous for their health. Therefore, we need to make sure that our children get enough physical activities and the best way to do that is by setting an example because if our kids don’t see us exercising regularly then they are not likely to develop an interest in fitness and their health. The best thing to do is organize a family walk every night after dinner and encourage the children to ride bicycles and take them hiking or swimming on the weekends. That way they can have some fun and get some much-needed physical activity at the same time.
In addition to this you should also limit the time they spend in front of the television and their computers and encourage them to take part in the sports they like. Participation in various sports can not only be a source of exercise for them but they can also learn about team work, leadership and co-operation.
